Meeting in Lithuania 1/10/11 - 8/10/11

It’s our first time that we are participating in the European program Comenius and honestly our impressions so far have been the best. It is something that we recommend without a doubt. We will substantiate our opinion by referring to our first meeting that took place in Lithuania from October 1st until October 8th 2011.

A). Meeting the country:

Our first meeting, as we’ve already said was made in Lithuania. Visiting Lithuania was never a priority before. But now we have every reason to recommend it for holidays, studies, business and more because it has to offer fantastic natural scenery, beautiful cities and villages, delicious food and heart-warming people.

The places we visited according to our schedule were:
(a)  Alytus Mount

(b) Blacksmith

(c) Alytus City Hall

d)Trakkai castle

e)Uzutrakis

f) Cadles workshop

g) Making bread

i) Kaunas

B) Communication: we had the opportunity to get to know the people (students and teachers) of other European countries. It is truly remarkable how people that would probably never even meet in their lives, come close together for one week, they get to know each other, discuss, have fun, and learn.  Each person represents their country but still carries its own self-subsisting personality. It is really very interesting to get to know so many people quite well in such short time.

C) Meeting the culture: Culture  is one of the most interesting topics of the human history.  This is why it’s of course the main theme of the Comenius program. Modern people need to come closer to the arts (architecture, sculpture, music, dance etc) so that they can be more creative and fans of beauty. This is a bet the Comenius made and so far it seems to be winning it!

Many were the cultural activities that were made, both from visits to cultural places but also from presentations of students.

In final conclusion, we feel winners by participating to this program. We feel that we took another step towards respect, acceptance, and mutual aid because these values are integral with the meaning of culture.
